Remove and Replace
Remove and Replace is a complete blacktop driveway repair method. This is used when the base of the driveway has been damaged. The damaged driveway area is saw-cut at the edge of the deteriorated pavement area, the asphalt and stone are removed from the pavement, and then the base is inspected. New stone is installed as needed and compacted thoroughly to stabilize the base of the blacktop driveway. Hot asphalt is then added to the proper thickness and rolled to match the surrounding driveway elevations.
Overlay Resurfacing of Blacktop
Overlay resurfacing of blacktop is recommended only when the existing asphalt base of the driveway is in good shape or if you are looking for a lower-cost quick fix. First, we remove any loose debris from the blacktop driveway repair area and apply a layer of tack coat. Asphalt is then added at the desired thickness and compacted. Just as a note, because skim patches are added to the top of existing asphalt, they may appear slightly raised and rougher than the surrounding asphalt areas on your driveway.
